Mr. Neuman hasn't been very helpful in providing the background information necessary for a work of this kind. He's made available virtually none of his papers, outside of a few napkins on which he'd scrawled something cryptic, at best. Surly is the best word to describe Neuman's demeanor throughout our* interview. He has offered us nothing, no biographical information whatsoever, no anecdotes—and no one associated with him was willing to talk, so our hands are tied.
We did the best with what we had.
