On this day in 1939, Germany attacks Poland, and Sylvania attacks Freedonia. Freedonia's President Rufus T. Firefly (above, right) will go on to lead his troops to victory over its hostile neighbor. Poland will not fare as well. (see "Duck Soup II".)
