On this day in the year 1900, banks fail to recognize the "00" written on personal checks as the year 1900, and keep the money for themselves.

On this day in the year 2000, early models of Nintendo’s Gameboy cease to operate, causing millions of 9-year olds to lose their temper and call local computer stores, leading to an overload of the phone system and a power failure of the western grid, followed by a brownout at NORAD and a red alert at the Strategic Air Command, where top officers send the entire fleet of nuclear bombers to the fail-safe point (see above) before recalling them at the last minute and going home for a late dinner.

On this day in the year 10,000, computers fail to recognize the four-digit "0000" as the year 10,000, causing weeks of disturbances, mostly in the Franco-American Zone.
